OpenROADM brings together Network Operators and vendors with a shared focus on developing solutions that deliver interoperable transport and open management.

In Spring 2015, the founding members of Open ROADM MSA recognized limitations within the existing ROADM ecosystem. They set out to define interoperability requirements to accelerate innovation and enable SDN software control and abstraction through open interface definitions. A successful Plugfest in February 2016 validated the specifications’ quality, leading the members to share the standards with the industry and welcome other interested parties. To promote speed and innovation, the members created a Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) for OpenROADM, opening it up for others to join.

OpenROADM is open to both carriers and vendors.

  • OpenROADM members have access to the work and discussions in progress before they are promoted and become visible to the public
  • Members set the next goals of the OpenROADM collaborative work and Multi Source Agreement
  • The level of involvement is up to the individual company
  • Members are welcome to observe, critique, or contribute technology proposals or use cases
